Deadly Donovan fires in four as Whitechurch power home

Inch, to their credit, sparked off a second-half revival with a goal from Niamh O’Brien within a minute of the restart. Whitechurch added two further goals from Donovan and Jessica Stokes, before Nadine Seward completed the scoring with a goal and a point for Inch.

Ballinora won the F4 Football title by beating Whitechurch. The Ballinora side went into an early four-point lead with points from Ivan Quirke, Shane Kingston and Michael Quirke. Ronan Murphy opened Whitechurch’s account with a point midway through the opening half before Billy Carberry drilled home a goal to give Scoil Bhailenora a 1-4 to 0-1 interval lead.

Whitechurch upped the ante after the interval as Murphy slotted over three unanswered points from placed balls in the third quarter. Desmond Duffy capitalised on sloppy defending by Whitechurch to pounce for his side’s second goal and this was followed by further unanswered points from Jack Twohig and Ivan Burke.

Sean Lynch got a late goal for Whitechurch from close range with two minutes remaining.

Scoil Bhailenora 4-3 St John’s Carrigaline 1-1

Scoil Bhailenora won the Sciath na Scol FG2 title as they defeated St John’s of Carrigaline in a one-sided encounter at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The Mid-Cork side had St John’s on the back foot from the start and points from Scoil Bhailenora’s Cliona Dooley and Rose Murphy broke the deadlock before Kate O’Shea drilled home a goal to open up a five-point lead.

Maeve O’Sullivan opened the South Cork side’s account with a pointed free on the stroke of half-time. Scoil Bhailenora’s Gemma Lenihan and St John’s Ellen Herlihy traded goals in the opening minutes of the second-half, before Rose Murphy got her second goal from close range in the 25th minute.

Kate O’Shea pointed a free for the Ballinora side midway through the second half and Lenihan exposed gaps in the Carrigaline side’s defence to pounce for her second goal with three minutes remaining.
