Cork ladies quartet make it an incredible 56 All-Ireland medals between them

It's a fair old haul of medals that Bríd Stack, Rena Buckley, Briege Corkery and Deirdre O'Reilly have amassed.

The sounding of the hooter close to 5.30pm on Sunday evening delivered each of the quartet an 11th All-Ireland ladies football medal, and a 17 in all in the case of Corkery and Buckley who have picked up six Celtic Crosses through their involvement with the Cork camogie set-up.

All four have played in each of Cork's 11 All-Ireland final wins, with Stack and Corkery playing every minute of every final. Buckley (2012) and Corkery (2014) also hold the distinction of having captained the Rebels to All-Ireland glory.

The fifth individual in the photo is long-serving selector Frankie Honohan. He too has been around since 2005 and was widely commended for staying on board after Eamonn Ryan departed the scene last December.

He's best known for the pot of soup he provides after training.

Said Briege Corkery after the final: “Frankie was saying he wouldn’t be involved this year, yet he helped us out when we needed him. Ephie, Mike, James and Derek brought in a new voice. And fair play to them because it was hard not having Val or Ger around. Bríd, Deirdre, Rena and myself, we made a pact before the Munster final. We were saying there were four hours left this year.

"That was the Munster final, the All-Ireland quarter, the semi and final. We are down to zero now and thankfully, we have kept a clean slate.”
