Cork club round-up: Sugrue's 4-9 paves way for Bandon in Cork IFC while Nemo retain their crown
Cork SHC Round 4
Douglas edged past Cork IT and organising a date with Bride Rovers in the quarter final of the SHC, thanks in large to the accuracy of Mark O'Connor's boot.
O'Connor posted eight points while Eoghan O'Brien clinched the all important goal to propel Willie Coveney's side into the quarter finals.
For the students, Andrew Coffey smashed over seven points before Peter Kelleher netted a goal of his own to ensure the game went right down to the wire.
Cork SFC quarter final
A revitalised Barr's side stormed back from a nine point deficit to stage a thrilling final 10 minutes at Pairc Ui Rinn.
Nemo, last year's champions, showed their resolve however, as they converted three scoring opportunities to secure a place in this year's semi finals.
Some elementary errors cost Barrs' in the end, Nemo's Paul Kerrigan, Conor Horgan and Ciaran Dalton all poaching goals.
Barr's Stephen Sherlock knocked over eight points, seven of which were from the tee. Ian Maguire and Leahy both scored goals.
Cork IHC
An injury-time point from Dungourney's Ryan Denny, his eighth of the day, levelled the game and earned the east Cork side a draw in Round 4 of the IHC.
Ballincollig started the better side, with Ian Coughlan and Conor Sexton threatening from the off.
Dave Bowen was their key man and finished proceedings in Pairc Ui Rinn with a 1-3 tally.
Cork Premier IFC quarter final
The second draw of the weekend saw a Bantry side, inspired by a Graham Canty goal, draw with Eire Og to stage a replay.
Daniel Goulding fired over 5 points for Éire Óg, the equaliser coming minutes before the final whistle.
Cork IFC quarter final
Mark Sugrue stole the show at Caherlag on Sunday, as the full forward proved devastating at the mouth of the goal, posting an astonishing tally of 4-9.
Scoring all but six of his sides points, Sugrue rushed his side into an insurmountable lead, scoring three goals in a 12 minute spell before half time.
A shellshocked Mitchelstown could only reply through a Beston goal and three frees from Walsh.
Cork SFC 4th round
Duhallow posted a convincing seven point win over Bishopstown.
They were helped to this lead by Donncha, Jerry and Alan O'Connor, who scored a combined total of 2-8.
On the 'Town's side, Denis Crowley kept his side in the chase with two well-taken goals while Daniel O'Donovan proved to be prominent off the tee, kicking five points.
Muskerry JAHC final
Ballinora overcame Blarney at a sodden Ovens ground to claim the JAHC title.
The slippery conditions restricted scoring opportunities to a few in the first half. However, Ballinora were still able to put on a display, veteran David Howard leading from the front with a personal tally of 1-9.
On the Blarney side, Mark Cremin was equally impressive, netting a goal that was complimented with six points.
Carbery JAHC final
Kilbree made short work of this JAHC final, scoring three first-half goals through Damien O'Gorman (two) and Brian O'Donovan to pick up the title in Castletownkeeneigh.
St Colum's couldn't match the intensity set by their Kilbree counterparts,as the 3-3 to 0-4 halftime board would suggest.
Sean O'Shea fired over seven points for the losing side, six of which were from the tee.
