Whenever the sun shines, Moyne House and grounds gets a blast of it, inside and out, says its selling agent Frank Walsh.
The big (2,400 sq ft) dormer home is on a half acre, and the auctioneer peppers his description with the words ’sunny’, bright’ and ‘spacious.’ It also comes with a glasshouse, tumbling waterfall garden feature, and a veg plot.
Moyne’s location is at Clash Cross, near Carrigrohane and off the Model Farm Road, and the house’s site is one of a half dozen or so off the road past St Oliver’s cemetery; it faces south over farmland and is quiet and private, adds the Property Partners O’Mahony Walsh auctioneer.
He guides Moyne House at €455,000, and says with that there’s a real sense of space, with rooms including two reception rooms, kitchen/dining room, a 20’ by 13’ sunroom across the dormer’s wide front bay with pitched and pine-clad roof, and the ground floor has a large en suite with double shower, while overhead are four more bedrooms, plus a family bathroom with a jacuzzi bath.
Mr Walsh rightly describes the condition as immaculate, and that covers the half acre outside, with its patios, lawns, landscaping and features. It’s a spot to linger in, and when showers cloud over the sun, the glasshouse is the fall-back position whence to enjoy it all.
VERDICT: A big-sized box-ticker for families on the move.

It’s only just been built and finished off, but already there’s a bit of internal character to this five-bed detached dormer home in Cork’s Dunkettle, thanks in part to red walls in a kitchen section, and by the living room’s chimney breast.
Just a few miles east of the city, near Glanmire and to key road networks, this 2,600 sq ft Richmond home has an asking price of €395,000 via agent Don Murphy of DNG Murphy Creedon. It’s on a half an acre, recently graveled and lawned, just waiting for grass growth to kick off to really bed it down, and the shed is already built in block to store garden accoutrements.

Nice grounds of about half an acre come with this L-shaped bungalow at Poundlick, a mile or so from West Cork’s market town of Skibbereen.
And, with a €195,000 price quoted by agent John Hodnett of Hodnett Forde, it’s got a cross-sectional buying appeal from relocaters to traders-up, as well as to traders down, and is affordable for first-time buyers too, especially those who want future add-on potential on their grounds.
As it stands, this Poundlick townland offering in Skibbereen has about 1,400 sq ft, all on one level, with a good patio section, several sheds (one is plumbed, and effectively a utility room) and brick barbecue, and the location good, off the Skibbereen-Baltimore Road.
