It’s a relic of the past, in a spot where modern day shopping and swathes of car-parking has replaced horses grazing, and coaches for transport.
New to market on the edge of Tralee town is the Coach House, a one-time livery spot for an old manor home, whose lands have since been developed for the Manor West Shopping Centre and Retail Park.
The manor house has stood its ground, along a long leafy lane by the retail spread, and next to it is the Coach House, for sale this month with local agent Brendan Mannix.
Complete with old out-buildings, and on about one-third of an acre, Mr Mannix says the Coach House would have been of the traditional long-house shape, about a room wide, and would have been used as lodgings by the staff and coach driver (we’re talking horses, not Slatterys here) of the original manor, back in the day. It has three bedrooms and a home office or fourth bedroom, pots of character (high beamed ceilings, etc) and memorabilia on the walls, and has been drylined, has central heating and double glazing: any work needed will be discretionary, adds the agent.
It’s on a long, leafy lane as a sort of green spine amid the retail development, is a few minutes to the myriad shops and also nearby is the hospital.
VERDICT: There’s even access to the road via stable doors — so, hot to trot.
