TALK about lifestyle options — there’s just so much on the doorstep of coastal-set Ballinglanna, where the planned sale of a No 9 in what was originally built as a holiday homes development may now well turn out to attract a full-time resident, or first time buyer taking a long term view.
Ballinglanna is a tiny community, a cove, inlet and slipway in a dip on the road between the hills out along the Wild Atlantic Way from Clonakilty to Courtmacsherry in West Cork.
Each of those acclaimed spots are five miles, give or take, from Ballinglanna, and also nearby is Barryroe co-op/shop, bays and beaches at Blind Strand and Broad Strand, and coves such as Simon’s Cove.
Now, in the midst of Ballinglanna come No 9 in the original bungalow scheme of holiday homes, listed for sale with Clonakilty-based estate agent Martin Kelleher at €199,000, who describes it as a coastal property, south-facing with outstanding 180 degree water views.
It’s good enough to move into and do a bit of DIY, or these houses are easily reconfigured for more open-plan living, suggests Mr Kelleher, while a few on this low-slung headland bend have already had extensions and significant upgrades, easily spotted and emulated.
No 9 has parking, some private grounds, a south-facing patio and internally has 1,200 sq ft right now, one of its four bedrooms is en suite, and there are sea views from the kitchen, living room, and two bedrooms.
“Nature has been very generous to this area of much variety: Ballinglanna is a great base to explore the many activities on offer, all within a short drive away, including golf at the Old Head of Kinsale, fishing, sailing, water sports, as well numerous quality restaurants and bars,” adds Mr Kelleher.
