sorts out your shelves and shells as part of this week’s picks.
Aldi’s special buys are focusing on homeware and will be instore on Thursday May 16. This wall shelf is pictured in the bathroom but I reckon it would work just as well in a hallway or kitchen or a laundry room if you’re lucky enough to have one.
It’s €34.99 and that includes fixings and four hooks. The dimensions are approximately 69.5 x 20 x 20cm.
Staying with Aldi, I couldn’t resist including this little fella in this week’s picks. Elephants in the home are considered to be symbols of power, kindness, and majesty.
Exactly the kind of properties I’d like my doorstop to have. It comes in four designs - Cube, Triangle, Elephant or Cactus - and they all cost €8.99. In stores nationwide from next Thursday.
If you’re a mid-century modern furniture fan, you’ll love my spotted online gem www.technabob.com) this week. A mouse inspired by Eames furniture would be the perfect compliment to your decor.
It’s the Lounge Mouse, conceived by industrial designer Shane Chen. The curved wooden base and black top looks like the iconic Eames lounge chair. Cute!
Exciting news for Wild Design Cork. Bronwyn Connolly and her team are opening a second store in Killarney on May 15 and they have announced some new collaborations with talented crafters.
We love these hand printed porcelain wall tiles by Alanna Plekkenpol. Perfect for summer. www.wilddesign.ie
Róisín O’Farrell’s exhibition opens at Killarney Art Gallery in July and is titled ‘To Have and to Hold’. It showcases colourful expressive paintings that are all about home.
Behold the magic of social media - Declan Mulvany, owner of Killarney Art Gallery, discovered Róisín O’Farrell on Facebook back in 2009 and invited her to Killarney to view her paintings.
Ten years ago the company where Róisín worked in business development closed, and she was made redundant. The artist, whose family hails from Kinsale in Cork, took this push as an opportunity to follow her dream of becoming an artist.
Isn’t that lovely? Catch the solo show during the month of July at The Killarney Art Gallery. More detail is available on roisinofarrell.com and www.killarneyartgallery.com/.
Kilkenny Shop had their famous bank holiday sale last week. I spotted this Orla Kiely egg cup set, it was €30, reduced to half price. Sprint in to see if there are any left. www.kilkennyshop.com.
Check out DFS Yoko open end corner chaise in coral velvet - isn’t it stunning?
Warming shades of burnt orange, terracotta, and rust with rich tones of ochre, brown and buttery tan create a liveable colour trend that we should all be brave enough to try. €1,949. Available summer 2019. Pictured here also is the Mercia coffee table, €775. www.dfs.ie
