Glenville Flower & Garden Club will host Betty Holden, AOIFA for a demonstration entitled “Easter Antics “ in Kade’s Kounty at 8.30pm on Tuesday, March 22. All are welcome.

Bandon Flower Club present a gardening talk by D J Murphy of Bandon Garden Centre in The Munster Arms Hotel on Mon March 21. Visitors welcome.

The Lough Flower and Garden Club will hold a teaching demonstration, to include plant manipulation, by Eileen O’Brien AOIFA at 8pm on Tuesday, March 22 in the SMA Centre Wilton. Everybody welcome. Admission for visitors €7.

Blarney & District Garden & Flower Club invite you to ‘It’s All About the Plants’ with Hester Forde at the Community Hall Whitechurch on Thursday, March 31 at 8pm Members please note change of week (5th week of the month) All Welcome.

The Irish Garden Plant Society (Munster) will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, April 5 at the SMA Hall Wilton, starting at 8pm. The talk entitled “Fabulous Foliage” will be given by Jimi Blake from Hunting Brook Gardens. All welcome.

Exhibitions of paintings and photos as well as poetry readings have been added to an extended Waterford Garden Trail programme this year in an all-out drive by the owners of the region’s historic homes and gardens to entice more visitors to enjoy the beauty and majesty of the Trail over the coming months.

The 2016 programme kicks off within weeks and Lismore Castle is to host an exhibition of paintings entitled: “A weed is a plant out of place”, on April 2.

The same day, Blackwater Garden Centre hosts a basket-making event with Cathy Hayden. It runs from 10am to 5pm. Refreshments on arrival, light lunch and afternoon tea are provided.

April 30 is a big day on the Trail calendar with three events running at different times, at three top gardens on the Trail. The day opens with a photographic competition and amateur photographer’s workshop at Tourin from 10am to 1pm on April 30.

Pre-booking is essential. The same afternoon, Dromana opens its doors for a very special event from 2.30pm onwards entitled “Grand Designs – Houses, Gardens and Landscapes of the Blackwater Valley”.

It will be addressed by Dr David Edwardsof the School of History, UCC as well as Dr Finola O’Kane Crimmins of School of Architecture, UCD. Again, pre-booking is essential.

That evening, Lismore Castle hosts a talk with award-winning garden designer, landscape designer, journalist and TV presenter, Dan Pearson. Further details and bookings through Lismore Castle.
