YEARS of trawling around old houses makes one immune to mould, damp and peeling wallpaper.
At Elsinore it’s surprising how good the condition of this 1930s house is – it’s in great nick, if a little dated.
Located on the Dennehy’s Cross end of Cork’s Model Farm Road, it’s a very good buy at the guide of €430,000.
And it’s a low-set price bar for the size and location, considering that this is prime professional territory with all the hospitals/institutions in the immediate vicinity.
And while Elsinore is south-facing to the front it gets westerly sun to the side and the back garden is an astonishing 150’ long, which means the sun travels well past the shadow of the house all day.
Bounded by big old trees and with high hedging sheltering it from the neighbours – it’s hard to believe the busy Model Farm Road is just outside.
Access is straight onto the main road, but the entire front garden has been covered in hard surface so there’s plenty of parking, but more importantly, turning room.
Internally, the layout is standard for a semi but that’s where the comparisons end. The entrance hallway is wider, the staircase longer and ceiling heights higher than the average and every room is generously proportioned.
