Three hundred and twenty images and 69 videos of child abuse material were allegedly found on an electrical device at the home of a 39-year-old man last August.
That is the allegation made at an in camera hearing of Cork District Court, where Judge Miriam Walsh said there were reporting restrictions in the case.
The man is charged on a single count stating that on August 24, 2025, at an address in Cork, he did knowingly have in his possession child pornography, namely child abuse material consisting of 320 images and 69 videos stored in an electronic device seized at his home.
Detective Garda Eimear Brennan charged the defendant with that count.
Sergeant Aisling Murphy said the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed trial by indictment at Cork Circuit Criminal Court, or that he could enter a signed plea of guilty at Cork District Court for sentencing at the circuit court.
Sgt Murphy said there was no objection to bail provided the accused complied with certain conditions, including that he reside at his home address, notify Det Garda Brennan of any change of address, sign weekly at his local Garda station, and notify gardaí of any plans to leave the jurisdiction.
The case was adjourned until July 21 for a copy of the prosecution evidence to be supplied to the defence so a decision can be made on whether a plea of guilty or not guilty will be entered.
