A man is due in court this morning charged with murder after a 24-year-old woman was stabbed to death in north Dublin over the weekend.
Gardaí arrested the man in connection to the fatal stabbing on Saturday afternoon.
The stabbing incident occurred shortly after 2pm on Saturday in Melville Drive, Finglas, Dublin 11.
Emergency services attended the scene and rushed the victim to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
Gardaí preserved the scene and the Garda Technical Bureau carried out a technical examination the same evening.
A post-mortem examination has been completed on her body but the results have not been released for operational reasons.
The man aged in his 20s is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
He is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court in Dublin, this morning at 10.30am.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with further information in relation to this incident to contact them.
In particular, they are appealing to anyone who was in the Melville Drive area of Finglas, Dublin 11 this afternoon between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
