An investigation's underway after an Irish Air Corps plane suffered engine failure yesterday.

The PC-9 aircraft was conducting a routine training mission when its single-engine gave out around 30 kilometres from Baldonnel.

An instructor and student on board were forced to return to Casement Aerodrome at around 3pm, and landed safely a short time later.

The Defence Forces say a full investigation has now commenced to determine the cause of the incident.
