Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has ruled out entering government with Fine Gael or Sinn Féin after the next general election, strongly indicating his party will spend another term out of power.

The Cork South Central TD made the comments despite repeated opinion polls showing Fianna Fáil had little chance of entering power by itself or being the majority party in any coalition.

The opposition leader said he was still of the view there are “no circumstances” where his party will sign-up with Sinn Féin due to economic differences and a litany of scandals, while, on the other hand, Fine Gael had moved too far to the right.
