Cian O’Neill’s Kildare impressively navigated a potential Belfast banana skin on Saturday, coming away from Corrigan Park with a double-scores 14-point win over Antrim to secure a place in this morning’s draw for Round 3 of the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers.

Warm June rain greeted us as we exited Croke Park yesterday with smiles on the faces of the Royal supporters, in particular. Dublin pelleted over points for fun while both Kildare and Laois squandered some great goal chances. The centurion Cluxton culled the Lillies’ goal efforts and the quality of the forward play and score-taking was exceptional, at times, from all four participating teams.

One week after the width of the goalpost saved Kildare from Leinster championship elimination at the hands of Longford in Tullamore, the two sides returned to Bord na Móna O’Connor Park and played out a game that couldn’t have been any more of a contrast.
