There is a lingering suspicion that everybody in Thursday’s TV leaders debate was administered a high dose of adrenaline as they entered the studio. All were out of the blocks as if they’d been pumped up on something, and none more so than co-presenter Ivan Yates.
The second seven-way leaders’ debate of the 2020 general election took place at Virgin Media headquarters last night in Dublin and proved to be a very loud affair indeed initially before descending into a more discursive second half.

An Post has again defended its decision to shut its Cork Mail Centre in Little Island, and has revealed that both Tánaiste, Simon Coveney, and Fianna Fáil leader, Micheál Martin privately asked the company to reconsider the move on the day the closure was announced.
The Department of Communications has insisted it has no role in deciding which of An Post’s four mail centres is to be closed, following the passing of a Dáil motion calling on the Government to instruct the company to keep its centre in Cork.
