The past was en vogue in various forms at the Baftas last night as Brooklyn, set in the 1950s, was named best British film, Kate Winslet won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Steve Jobs, the biopic about the Apple founder, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor John Boyega won the Rising Star award on the back of his turn in a film set “a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away”.
