TWELVE years after the Irish property, construction, and economic crash, work is finally set to start on the very first non-student apartment development of any scale in Cork City in that time period, in an investment put at €40m.
THE €45.6 million purchase of the John Cleary Developments’ Capitol development in Cork city by a German pension fund “is a major confidence boost for the city” and a positive omen for new development, according to Goodbody investment analyst Colm Lauder.
Paddy McDonnell’s stall in the Cork market is just one of several that sells pigs’ tails, skirts and kidneys and bodices. He says he still sells about 200 a week, but is concerned because they are becoming more difficult to find. Most pigs reared in an intensive way have their tails docked.
