The tragedy of the Syrian civil war has reached new levels of barbarism over the last week as Bashar-al-Assad’s Russian ally launched air strikes against the civilian population in the rebel-held north of this devastated country.

In Zoe Lawlor’s latest denial of reality, she inserts herself in the narrative of Palestinian victimisation claiming to have been “attacked and kidnapped in international waters while sailing to Gaza, robbed and repeatedly strip searched, imprisoned for a week, shot at with steel-coated rubber bullets and tear gas” (Letters, 9 November).

On October 1, Rabbi Eiran and his Naama, who were in their 30s, were travelling between the West Bank Jewish settlements of Itamar and Elon Moreh with their four children when they were murdered by Palestinian terrorists.
