THE second round of maths papers was taken by Junior and Leaving Certificate students at more than 700 schools around the country yesterday morning.

MOST of the 53,500 Leaving Certificate maths students took ordinary level Paper 1 after lunch, but Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) spokesperson Imelda Moloney said not many of those candidates would have been jumping for joy.

WHETHER it was “in the name of the fada” in Irish or the “reasonable and fair” maths papers, student-friendly was the catchphrase which most appropriately summed up the fourth day of the 2009 Leaving and Junior certificate exams yesterday.
