If the apology proffered by an Taoiseach Enda Kenny on behalf of the government and state to the Magdalene women is one of genuine substance and compassion and not empty rhetoric for public consumption, then all victims, including those survivors of the Protestant-run Bethany Homes, Westbank and St Mary’s in Summer Hill must be part of that apology and be included in the redress scheme.

I WONDER is the Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny attempting to pilfer the republican glad rags of the soldiers of destiny? Speaking in Dáil Éireann, Mr Kenny responded to proposed European Commission legislation requiring eurozone states to submit their respective budgets to Brussels for pre-approval. Mr Kenny said this would be tantamount to “handing over sovereignty and the running of the country to the EU”.

THE naming by unionist peer Lord Laird, under the protection of parliamentary privilege in the House of Lords, of a number of alleged IRA members who were supposedly present at the killing of Sean Quinn in Co Monaghan is an act of gross irresponsibility and an abuse of the democratic process.
