There have been mixed reactions in India to the death of Savita Halappanavar, who died following a miscarriage at University Hospital Galway.

The Indian ambassador to Ireland, Debashish Chakravarti, has said he expects to meet with the Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore later today - to discuss the death of Savita Halappanavar.

The Government has launched diplomatic efforts to repair the country’s reputation in India after the parents of Savita Halappanavar blamed Ireland’s abortion laws for her death.
