A number of young players will make the step up to Senior Championship football when Kildare and Offaly meet in this evening's opening Leinster SFC quarter-final at Croke Park (throw-in 5pm).

Offaly senior football manager Emmet McDonnell has axed Ross Brady, Richie Dalton and Sean Pender from his squad following a breach of discipline.

Offaly manager Emmet McDonnell has kept faith with the side which beat Tipperary last time out for Saturday's Allianz Football League Division 4 final against Limerick at Croke Park (throw-in 5pm).

Limerick recorded their first defeat, as Tipperary claimed the only away win in Division 4 of the Allianz National Football League this afternoon, where there were also wins for Offaly and Leitrim.

Offaly, Carlow and Waterford all gained away victories in Division 4 of the Football League today, while Limerick registered a home win over Leitrim.

Emmet McDonnell from Westmeath has been appointed as Offaly's new senior football manager.
