BEACH AT KILMICHAEL POINT, CO. WEXFORD

"I spend hours watching birds performing Creative Ballet type acts on the waters etc. This picture I captured shows the gull gliding down making a most creative crystal mirror halo scene across its head."

Foggy Morning

SCILLY, KINSALE, CO. CORK

"Kinsale is a favourite early morning location for me in winter as the sun rises in Scilly with the water in the foreground. I got there before dawn on this occasion & the fog was so thick. I set up and waited for the sun to begin to burn off the fog. When enough detail emerged, I took this shot and converted it to monochrome."

Sunlight from Above

HOOK HEAD, CO. WEXFORD

"This picture was taken in October 2020 at 8:30am as the sun was low in the sky. The low sunlight hits the water surface at an angle. Some of this light is reflected. As the tide rises, the air sacs in the seaweed cause it to float and when I saw the kelp rising into the triangle of light, I knew it was worth trying to capture the different compositional elements of light, shapes, angles, and colour."

GREAT SALTY ISLAND, CO. WEXFORD

"The gannet colony is a noisy and chaotic gathering of hundreds of birds. I wanted to try to get an isolated gannet and take a simple photo showing the beauty of this bird. Converting it to monochrome helps to emphasise its characteristic pose and beauty looking up towards the heavens."

Shadows on the Fisherman's Cottage

LOUGH AHALIA NORTH, SCREEBE, CONNEMARA, CO. GALWAY

"This image was planned however, the shadows were unplanned. I came to this location with the plan to capture a shot after the sun had set to get the pink and orange colours in the sky. When I got home, I noticed the shadows casted onto the fisherman's cottage, I figured out after it was car headlights from the top of the road that casted our shadows onto the cottage wall and bench."

Shell Cairn

PORTRANE, CO. DUBLIN

"I've always loved macro photography and I try to highlight the strange and beautiful shapes that are present in all the shells and rocks that have been eroded by the sea. I stacked these shells vertically to get the interesting parts all in the same focal plane. Finally, some rays of sunshine got through the patchwork of clouds to help spotlight the little stage I had made."

Oyster Beds

CROMANE, CO. KERRY

"I had an idea for a monochrome, long exposure shot of oyster beds in my head for a long time. I came across these beds by chance this summer at Cromane. I was lucky that the light was amazing over Mt. Brandon in the background & I got the image as I had envisioned it."

GARRYVOE BEACH, CO. CORK

"There is a hidden world around us, small wonders waiting to be discovered with a camera lens. You just need to pause, look closely, focus and admire. Garryvoe beach is full of those tiny treasures like that small shell I found there, which turned out to be so beautiful!  "

"Sandymount Beach was my release during the various COVID-19 associated lockdowns. Having captured many different types of photos of this location I wanted something different so used intentional in-camera movement to try and capture a more artistic view of the bay."

"I love walking at Kilcoole beach. I absolutely adore swans, they are magnificent creatures. I love photographing them. Every bit about them fascinates me. I would spend hours sitting on the rocks and just watching them."
