Wish List: The best bits and pieces for your home

Esther N McCarthy showers us with interesting bits and pieces this week...

Elaine Fallon, of Brookwood Pottery, is planning to open a teaching pottery in Fairview, Dublin 3 in September. The talented Ms Fallon has put together a range of classes and rewards on a crowdfunding campaign called the Brookwood Pottery Project. One of the rewards is a collaborative piece by the pottery with London based Irish illustrator Alice Power, who has created a beautiful swallow drawing, which they are using to grace limited edition porcelain mugs (above).

“The money we raise will help us buy the potter’s wheels, kiln and pug machine we need to give courses. The pledge amount is €40 and for that you get the limited edition mug, a Brookwood Pottery Tote bag and an invite to the launch party in September” What are you waiting for? Get on over to join the project.

Homesense are settling into their new Cork home, I visited recently and the place was buzzing. Spotted this blue industrial ceiling light, what a fabulous colour. €89.99, Homesense St Patrick’s Street. www.homesense.ie

Keep an eye out in your nearest Aldi store from tomorrow on — the Special Buys are all about vintage-inspired fabrics and patterns. I love this vintage design bean cube. It would make a rather stylish footrest or an extra seat for the little ones in the family. Or even a pet perch. It’s €22.99, see www.aldi.ie for more

My Shining Armour is an Irish company created by Kilkenny dynamo Nicki Hoyne. We love the handpicked, unique stock — a perfect example is this Mother Superior mug (it resonated with me for some reason), it’s €20 from www.myshiningarmour.com

Arnotts has welcomed Flying Tiger Copenhagen as the newest pop up to hit the store. We’re told it’s a first for the Danish retailer, and they will be offering the very best of their unique and own designed products in a curated collection. The new pop-up is located on the ground floor of Arnott’s Department Store for six weeks only. You can expect summer sweeties like these pineapple tealight holders, €4. #ArnottsFlyingTiger #ArnottsPopUp #Flying- TigerCopenhagen ie.flyingtiger.com and www.arnotts.ie

If you’re facing a paint job, have a peek at this denim drift colour from Dulux. Used here on bunk beds, but it could work anywhere in the house, really. Dulux matt emulsion paint retails at €64.99 for 5 litres. For more information on Dulux, go to dulux.ie or facebook.com/Duluxireland.

Looking for a bit of the ole wow factor in the bathroom? Check out the all-chrome Kensey dual control mixer, €295. It’s the latest launch from Triton’s Affordable Style collection and we like the unique forward-facing cross handles which apparently allow precision control. Bit of a retro vibe happening there too. www.tritonshowers.ie
