Wishlist: Moon Arch

Each week, Esther N McCarthy scouts around for interesting bits for your home. This week she finds magic umbrellas and candle designs with moonlight magic.

* There’s nothing quite like candle light. There’s lots of options from a simple votive in a glass jar to huge hurricane candle lamps. Meadows & Byrne have this gorgeous Moon Arch design in stores at the moment, €79.

* You can’t get away from owls these days, they’re fierce popular altogether. So make the wise choice and add one somewhere in your house. An easy way is with this cute owl door stop, and €7 is a small price to pay for being totally trendy. You’ll have to wait until June to grab one of these in Penney’s.

* Mirror, mirror on the wall, I like the storage space and all. This is the Hemnes mirror cabinet, silly name, great look. It’s €106 from Ikea, Dublin and Belfast.

* This fabulous rug in the new English Country Garden design has been chain-stitched by hand in wool onto a cotton backing by artisans in Kashmir, using the finest traditional techniques. The floral design will bring a little of the outside in and add soft colour while it is at it. It can also be hung as a wall hanging, if you can’t bear for it to be on the floor! The size is L: 150cm; W: 90cm and it costs €444 from www.iapetus.co.uk
