The Marl is part of the French Connection range, very retro cool, with clean lines and sharp design. This four-seater costs €2,299 from DFS in Mahon Point, Dublin and Belfast.
If you want to really go all out in the man cave department, check out Brosheets. Designed in Dublin by Colm Walsh, they are made from Fair-Trade 100% Egyptian cotton bedlinen. Metallics are continuing to be a focal point for interior trends. Danish lighting company Ebb & Flow uses glass, metals and textiles to produce contemporary light fittings for those who might want to just dip a toe into the trend rather than diving right in. I love this ‘glow in a dome’ light with a mouth-blown glass dome. Available from Kevin Kelly Interiors, it’s called Speak Up, €290.
Richard Dunphy’s stunning piece is an example of the innovative student work which is on display at Galway City Museum at the moment. Part of Galway Arts Festival, ‘Creative Wave’ combines the work of students, graduates and staff of GMIT’s Letterfrack campus in Connemara — the Centre for Excellence in Furniture Design and Technology — and GMIT’s Centre for the Creative Arts and Media in Galway City.
The show runs until 27 August and admission is free. http://www.gmit.ie/
