Quality furniture at Hegarty’s latest sale in Bandon

West Cork country house contents on offer, writes Des O’Sullivan.     

Viewing is now underway in Bandon for Hegarty’s auction of antique furniture, art and collectibles, scheduled to take place at 3pm tomorrow.

The sale will include contents from a West Cork country house and items from the Coolmaine Castle collection. 

Irish furniture on offer includes a Regency secretaire bookcase, a wine table, a William IV foldover card table and an Irish gilt over-mantle mirror.

There are an Edwards and Roberts mahogany and marquetry serpentine display cabinet, a satinwood cylinder library desk by Maples and Co and a group of finely carved Swiss-made Black Forest hall furniture.

The sale features a 1.5m club fender as well as garden statuary and furniture.

Among the latter are two 19th century cast- iron garden seats. With about 50 lots of Irish and English silver and 30 lots of Irish art this is an auction for a variety of collectors.

It is on view from 12pm to 5pm today and from 12pm to the start of the sale at 3pm tomorrow.
