POLLEN WATCH: There are now more than 1m hay fever sufferers in Ireland.

And last week, ahead of the rise in pollen count which early summer brings, many hayfever sufferers tend to avoid outdoor activities at this time of year to escape symptoms such as a stuffy, runny nose and red, itchy eyes.

TOUR DE CHARITY: Children’s charity Barnardos is asking cyclists to sign up for the 24th L’Ètape du Tour and experience the beauty and toughness of the legendary Tour de France Mountain Stages.

The L’Ètape du Tour covers a single stage of the official Tour de France offering over 100kms of cycling and this year’s event takes place on July 10 between the towns of Megène and Morzine.
