Shape I'm In: Carly Baker is in fighting form

Carly Baker turns lots of heads with her come-hither lingerie photoshoots but behind the girly smile is a core of discipline, hard work and grit.

Describing herself as a “model/dancer/singer/actress/presenter”, Carly, who hails from London, is the ultimate hardworking 21st century multi-tasker.

Her career in modelling was kick-started at the age of 14 when she won a competition in Shout magazine.

She went on to join the girl band Mynxters, crossing paths with Gary Barlow and Lionel Richie along the way.

These days she is focussed on building her career across all platforms: “I am busy with modelling work, magazine shoots, my fitness work and TV commercials. Long term, TV is the way I want to go. I like performing.”

Carly, 26, is in Ireland this week to promote her new role as Octagan Girl for UFC, a global mixed martial arts promotion company.

“I’ve always been a fitness bunny and it’s amazing to watch the games. The atmosphere in the place is amazing,” says Carly, who is a qualified personal trainer.

Though she sizzles in front of the camera — “I’ve a little sexy side” — she is very close to her family. She has an older brother and a sister, who is disabled. Her parents — dad is a black cab driver and mum is a retired dental nurse — have always been supportive of her work. “They are really proud, and are behind me 100%.”

Currently single, she is still recovering from the heartbreak of losing her boyfriend Surrey batsman Tom Maynard who was tragically found dead on a railway line last year.

But she hasn’t given up her dream of having a family in the future. “I would love to have my four babies and settle down. I am quite mumsy — I love the whole family side,” she says.

* Carly Baker, is the new Octagon Girl for UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). Setanta is broadcasting live UFC events 163 on Aug 4 and 164 on Aug 18, which features Irish fighter Conor McGregor.

My puppy. I feel happy whenever I see his little face.
