Cider of the week: Longways Tipperary Cider

The craft ciders keep on coming with new ranges of established producers expanding and brand new entrants.

Longways Tipperary Cider Medium-Dry, 4.5% ABV; 500ml — €4.95

Stockists: Matsons, No. 21 Group, selected SuperValu, World Wide Wines

Longways have been around since 2014 so could be considered second-wave.

Sadly all our cider makers are treated dismally by the Revenue who seem to want to punish them by giving them higher duty rates and absolutely none of the breaks of the brewers, despite the fact the only non-Irish part of their production is often the cap.

Longways is made solely from apples produced on the Longways Orchard in the Suir Valley and is golden in colour with ripe fruity aromas of apples and stone fruit; sweet on the palate but balanced with fresh acidity and a lingering tart freshness.
