Beer of the week: Killarney Scarlet Pimpernel IPA, 6.2% abv, 500ml — €3.99

It makes perfect sense to open a craft brewery in Ireland’s busiest tourist town.

Killarney currently has six regular brews for sale, including a Helles, Red Ale, Extra Stout, and a Pale Ale. 

Each is themed around a local story or legend, with this solid American style IPA focusing on Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty, who saved thousands from execution during the Second World War. 

The brewery will of course be participating in the Killarney Beer Festival, which runs from May 27-29 Rich, tropical, and red-fruit aromas, full-flavoured on the palate with a good touch of sweetness balanced by dry-hopped citrus crispness on the finish.
