Beer of the week: Black Donkey Buck It Amber Ale – 4.8% ABV; 500ml — €3.39

Black Donkey Brewing are based in Ballinlough, Co Roscommon, and run by a husband and wife team — Michaela Dillon and Richard Siberry.

A hybrid beer, this is a loose combination of traditions from Belgium (dubbel), Ireland (red ale) and the USA (amber).

Brewed with Irish base malt, Belgian speciality malt and American hops and yeast this has a copper colour, aromas of malt, citrus and some red fruit character. 

It is pleasingly well-balanced and elegant with complexity, freshness .
