Wolf Hall director PETER KOSMINSKY is set to write and direct a drama for Channel 4 and National Geographic Channel about four young people who travel to Syria to join Islamic State.

The broadcasters will team up for the first time for the four-part fictional drama about four British men and women who leave their lives behind to travel to Raqqa in Syria.

Currently untitled, the drama will be based on first-hand accounts and is expected to premiere on Channel 4 next year. It will be broadcast on National Geographic Channel around the rest of the world.

Beth Willis, head of drama at Channel 4, said: “After a year of extensive research, Peter has written a fascinating fictional story that sheds light on an unknown and unimaginable world.

Comedian JIM DAVIDSON says he plans to “set the record straight” on his controversial 40-year career with an autobiographical new stage show.

Celebrating four decades in show business, 40 Years On will cover the 62-year-old’s life from his breakthrough on talent show New Faces in 1976 through to winning Celebrity Big Brother in 2014.

Written by and starring Davidson, he has promised never-before-heard stories about the “highs, lows and controversies of a unique life spent in the public eye”.

He said: “The piece is an honest and raw reflection of my life over the last 40 years, both in the spotlight and personally.

“Much of my life has been lived out with the nation watching, so what better way to set the record straight and hear the stories - but from my perspective and in my own words.”

Actress ALISON KING has praised her close friend and former Coronation Street co-star KYM MARSH, insisting she will be “brilliant” in a forthcoming pregnancy storyline. Marsh, 40, plays Michelle Connor in the soap, the sister-in-law of King’s character Carla Connor.

In upcoming episodes, Michelle will tell reluctant husband Steve McDonald that she is keen to have a baby after becoming broody.

She will later break the news that she is pregnant, in the hope it will cement their strained marriage.

King, 43, said: “It’s testing and I think she’ll do it well. Whatever she puts her mind to, she really goes through it. She will be brilliant.”
