Entertainment news round up: Morrissey novel is amusing, at least

SINGER Morrissey has released his first novel, after months of anticipation, and social media has erupted in amusement and incredulity.

List Of The Lost, released two years after his memoirs, Autobiography, is the story of an American relay team cursed by a demon. Furious diatribes against MARGARET THATCHER, meat-eaters, and the royal family are littered throughout the book, but a sex scene has everyone talking. Readers have taken to Twitter to share their amusement at Morrissey’s description of his male hero’s erection as a “bulbous salutation”. The 128-page novel reportedly revives many of the themes present in The Smiths lyrics since the 1980s.

Two of the world’s most iconic female rockers are taking to the stage during Milan Fashion Week. COURTNEY LOVE and DEBBIE HARRY are headlining on the sidelines of the six-day run of fashion previews for next spring and summer. Love sent the audacious German designer Philipp Plein’s catwalk reverberating, as fashion week kicked off, while Harry performs this weekend at the amfAR charity auction to raise money for Aids research.

The uninhibited Ms Love belted out ‘Celebrity Skin’ for the Milan fashion crowd, lending street cred to Plein’s #pleinpunk SS16 collection.

The musician, dressed in tattered jeans and a dark T-shirt, rode a conveyor belt along an ironic, automated fashion runway, accompanied by robot guitarists, named Fingers and Bones.

ADELE has reportedly signed up to appear on a string of US TV shows, prompting speculation she is ready to unveil her highly-anticipated third album.

The ‘Skyfall’ singer has been working on the follow-up to her 2011 hit album, 21, for more than a year, and it may finally be set for release, with the first single in early November.

Now Hits Daily Double has reported that Adele has signed a deal with NBC for four big TV appearances, including The Today Show, SNL, a prime-time special and one more show, possibly The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

CAITLIN MORAN has been voted the wittiest woman on Twitter. The journalist and author pipped The Great British Bake Off host, SUE PERKINS, to the title in a survey to find the funniest females on Twitter.

Comedian MIRANDA HART came third, while the top 10 also included LILY ALLEN and JK ROWLING.

One of Moran’s followers’ favourite tweets includes: “Stop saying ‘You’ve waited all your life for this.’ Everyone’s waited all their lives for EVERYTHING. That’s how time works.”

Good Morning Britain presenters, SUSANNA REID and KATE GARRAWAY, weren’t afraid to muck in as they joined in the Tough Mums obstacle course. The TV stars — usually seen with perfectly blow-dried hair, pristine make-up and glamorous dresses — slid down mud banks, waded through filthy water and swung through the air on ropes.

GMB chose 50 inspirational mothers to join the presenters on the 5km challenge. The obstacle course was designed by Tough Mudder.

Reid said: “It was hard, but was all about team work and helping and encouraging each other. No-one was alone — and at every obstacle along the course, as I thought, ‘I can’t do this’, there was a mum doing something that scared her, whether it was heights, or deep water or tunnels”.
