Trend of the week: Zebra stripes

ZEBRA CROSSING: We’re ready to take a walk on the wild side, says Annmarie O’Connor.

INSPIRATION

Last season’s leopard has officially changed its spots. It’s time for zebra stripes to infiltrate the fashion pack.

From the louche London vibe at Topshop Unique to Adam Lippes’ more gutsy Bowery babe, the result is an optical fun fair – designed to dazzle and aimed at the infamous alter ego.

STYLE NOTES

80s REDUX

Make like Topshop Unique with a silky zebra print top, leather trousers and bright pink heels.

COLOUR BLOCK

Layer zebra prints in contrasting colours (coat and shift dress, anyone?) for maximalist style cred.

MINIMALIST

Dial down the drama with one zebra feature piece. Anchor with monochrome separates and minimal accessories.

STREET SAFARI

Pair a zebra print skirt with a cargo shirt, corset-style belt and statement gold cuff.
