Trend of the week: Sports Luxe

Stretch your sartorial muscle with sports luxe looks, writes Annmarie O’Connor.

Athleisure’ may be fashion’s biggest buzzword but you don’t have to be a gym bunny to win serious style points.

The approach involves equal parts inner athlete and outer attitude: a sweatshirt here, a statement sneaker there – all executed with an air of sporty nonchalance.

Don’t sweat it. It’s only fashion.

Combine practicality and polish with a pair of Stella McCartney’s grosgrain slip-ons or the stalwart Stan Smith classics.

Layer a zip-through retro track top under a blazer or balance bottoms with a luxe tee and heels.

Avoid a head-to-toe look. Incorporate small details like statement zippers, exposed seams and mesh panelling for a nod to the trend.

Make like Chloé and pair Bermuda shorts with a slouchy sweater and sandals for nautical nonchalance.
