Trend of the week: Get ready for metallic

Get ready. The lesser spotted metallic is coming out to party, says Annmarie O’Connor

New Year is here and it’s time to celebrate. While gold and its sidekick glitter are holding court, why not master metallics with a more measure. Enter bronze – the more considered, less showy reveller whose soft, warm tones leave a warm glow long after the party has ended.

Add a matte bronze knit and boxfresh trainers to a vinyl mini skirt.

Pair a chunky knit and neat ankle boots with bronze trousers.

Make an LBD pop with a slick bronze clutch or slingbacks. Up the ante on a jeans and t-shirt combo with a bronze kimono jacket.

Mix your metals by adding platinum, copper or matte gold into the mix and find balance with contrasting neutrals like black, cream or burgundy.
