Trend of the Week: Monochrome

Great style – it’s black and white really, writes Annmarie O’Connor.

Monochrome makes its optic sensibility felt for another season. Expect its graphic edge to have softened somewhat with broderie anglaise, playful polka dots and louche shapes as standard.

The result?

A less clinical, more feminine feel where simplicity is its own reward.

* FACE: Dewy skin and midparted hair – simple and chic

* SHAPE: Fluid kimono styles, batwing sleeves, waisted detail, midi lengths

* PRINT: Opt for precision prints like polka dots, checks or stripes. Bit of a romantic? Try a graphic floral print instead

* OPTION: Too stark? A poppy red lip will create visual interest without lapsing into drama.
