Trend of the week: The 60s shift

Swing out sister – it’s time to embrace the 60s shift, says Annmarie O’Connor.

INSPIRATION

Feel the warmth of the summer of love this winter as the iconic shift dress takes centre stage. Gucci, Pucci, Valentino and Miu Miu all paid homage to the era with empire silhouettes and above-the-knee lengths rendered in playful prints and bold colourways. Whichever you choose, be sure to finish off your frock with a pair of go-go boots or chunky-heeled Mary Janes for extra style cred.

STYLE NOTES

MARY QUANT: fine knit polo neck, colourful tights, ballet flats.

TWIGGY: Mary Jane shoes, knee socks, mod earrings

EDIE SEDGWICK: Faux fur chubby, baker boy cap, go go boots

JACKIE O: gloves, top handle bag, oversized sunglassees
