Trend of the week: Pink

It's time to think pink, says Annmarie O'Connor.

The power of pastels makes its presence most felt in summer.

Pink – the high priestess of high summer hues – leads the charge in her usual freewheeling manner – all froth and frills, tumbling tulle and tactile textures.

Both coquettish and romantic, we've come to embrace her through the soft lens of carefree days and long evenings. What would we do without her?

? Pink at the office? Easy. Simply pair with sharp cuts and uncluttered silhouettes for a workable look.

? Mix softer shades like pistachio, muted coral and blush with cream and white for a fresher, less frou frou palette

? Occasion bound? Up the ante with textures like feathers, faux fur, embellishments or metallic finishes.

? Step back in time with top handle bags and almond toe block heels – this season's nod to retro luxe.
