Trend of the week: Feathers

Summer is in full plumage, says Annmarie O’Connor.

This season expect to see some feathers ruffled, shaken and fanned for everyone to admire. It’s the trend, after all, that demands an audience.

From Umit Kutluk’s ethereal ombre confections to Erdem’s unbridled brio, the mantra is simple – full-blown glamour.

■ Use feathers judiciously along hems, cuffs or seams for a less literal take on the trend.

■ Make like a peacock with a notice-me showpiece like a feather shrug or dress.

■ D.I.Y. Hack: Pay homage to Burberry and add a feather hem to your favourite denim jacket!

■ Too much? Hot foot it with a feather clad shoe.
