Trend of the week: Fashion math

Monochrome returns for a seasonal redux, this time with a graphic edge.

The appeal is black and white: fuss free dressing plus arithmetical prints equals a large sum of lovely.

Checks square off to stripes with more intricate geometric pattern leaving a solid mark on the fashion terrain.

The result?

A clean, modern look that leaves winter in the shade.

Style Notes

* Create an illusion: Linear stripes make legs look longer and leaner while box check tops broaden a petite frame. Looking to take a bite out of your pear shape? Try diagonal or chevron stripes for maximum effect.

* Keen on clashing? Create a subtle impact by contrasting a jacket and a bag; or a top and a shoe rather than an entire outfit.

* Keep your prints in check with precision tailoring to help balance out bold geometric proportions.

* Too clinical? Add extra dimension with a colour pop shoe, bag or cuff. (Not all together!)
