Tried and tested

Botanics All Bright Eye Soothing Eye Makeup Remover 150ml, €2.99
This oil-based remover worked a treat on my waterproof mascara and kohl eyeliner.

Just a few swipes and all traces of makeup disappeared. I’ve tried lots of makeup removers in the past, from cold creams to natural oils, but this one tops the list.

The addition of hibiscus acts as a mild exfoliator and left my lids feeling cool and silky soft. It’s also paraben-free.

Even if you are a fan of the hot cloth cleansing method before bedtime, you will probably still need a dedicated eye makeup remover.

Water-based solutions are an option if you don’t like an oily slick on your eyelids but may not be as effective when it comes to stubborn waterproof mascara.

Face blotting papers are really useful for soaking up excess oil and keeping make-up in check throughout the day, but they’re also pretty fiddly and can end up disintegrated in the bottom of your bag.

The latest launch from Beauty Blender (the folks who make those amazing egg-shaped foundation sponges) rectifies that issue.

The Blotterrazzi, €20, is a blotting sponge that comes in a handy plastic compact and can be washed and reused over and over ( www.beautyblender.co.uk ).

SHOWER POWER

Did you find yourself lingering in the shower this morning? That could be down to stress, as a survey by Herbal Essences found that stress is the number one reason for longer showers.

More than 80% of the 1,000 women questioned said that a shower is one of the few times of the day when they truly get to escape, and more than half would rather skip breakfast than their morning shower.

MEET YOUR MATCH

Do you abandon foundation after a summer escape, because your newly bronzed skin no longer matches your usual shade?

No7 understands, which is why they sent advisors to help passengers find their perfect match on a flight back from Dubai last month.

The brand’s ’Match Made’ service is available in Boots stores nationwide, so drop in to discover your post-holiday hue.
