Get thee to Brown Thomas where Blanc de la Mer is exclusively available now. The brand’s new — and pricey — brightening line, comprises a serum and two lotions packed full of marine ingredients developed into ferments. Designed to add luminosity and radiance, it’s particularly interesting for porcelain-toned Celtic types interested in keeping pigmentation at bay. Prices start at €100 for The Brightening Infusion Intense and go up to €265 for the powerhouse serum, The Brightening Essence Intense.
Shop Mac Cook Mac is the brand’s fun spring collection and will be on counter for two colour-filled months. Tendertones, the brand’s much-beloved tinted lip balms, are making a limited-edition return in four shades for €14.50, there are shadow quads, €47.50, flouro Nail Lacquers, €12.50 and more scrummy glosses and bright lipsticks than you can shake a stick at. Hurray!
The blogosphere has been buzzing for months and March 12 is launch day: Revlon’s Lip Butters, €9.60, are a care-and-colour hybrid in 20 shades. Why so exciting, though? Cute packaging, genuine pout about it benefits and lots of shade choice have seen our US sisters swoon. For balm fans, it’s the most exciting news of the year.
Sisley’s beautiful Palette Orchidée, €71.50, combines three pinky peach shades that are designed to flatter the complexion. Hydrating benefits come courtesy of extract of white lily.

Age of Reason
Now in its fourth generation, Clarins’ Extra Firming range is better than ever. Melting, emollient textures in lotions and creams for different skintypes are pitched at 40-something skin — and ask at the counter for a little expert advice on the recommended application method. You’ll make your pot work harder and your euro go further. I love the Extra Firming Day Cream, €67.20.
Q. What’s the buzz on BB Creams? I’m completely confused. Are they just tinted moisturisers or genuinely something new?
ANSWER: Inspired by the Asian originals, BBs are a hybrid product.
They are much better than the badly formulated tinted moisturiser of old and address concerns.
Some tackle hydration, some oil control or imperfections and all contain SPF and added skincare benefits.
Makeup coverage varies and typically you’ll only get a couple of shade choices which is a drawback.
But these are great five minute products and a boon for the time pressed.
One to definitely try this month is Nude Magique BB Cream from L’Oréal Paris, €14.99.
