Leonardo DiCaprio met George Lucas but said no to ‘Star Wars’ role as Anakin Skywalker

LEONARDO DICAPRIO has admitted he could have played Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels.

During an interview with Shortlist, the Oscar-nominated star revealed George Lucas had wanted him for Attack Of The Clones.

“I did have a meeting with George Lucas about that,” he said. “Just didn’t feel ready to take that dive. At that point.”

The role eventually went to Hayden Christensen and Star Wars fans are now left to rue what could have been.

But that’s not all because DiCaprio also turned down Robin in Batman Forever. However, given how that role eventually panned out forChris O’Donnel in the critically lambasted follow-up Batman & Robin, he had a lucky escape.

“As I recall, I took the meeting, but didn’t want to play the role,” he explained. “Joel Schumacher is a very talented director, but I don’t think I was ready for anything like that.”

Believe it or not, the Titanic star also passed on Spider-Man although Tobey Maguire proved inspired casting. “That was another one of those situations, similar to Robin, where I didn’t feel ready to put on that suit yet. They got in touch with me.”

The 41-year-old will soon be seen in The Revenant, depicting one man’s epic adventure of survival, released here on January 15.

Former Glee star Mark Salling has been arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography.

The 33-year-old actor was taken into custody on Tuesday after a warrant was served at his home in the Sunland neighbourhood of Los Angeles.

Salling had been investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Representatives for Salling did not immediately comment.

Salling is best known for playing Noah “Puck” Puckerman in musical comedy-drama Glee, which aired from 2009 through to March of this year.

Justin Bieber’s love life is in the spotlight again as the chart-topper shared an intimate video and snaps featuring his friend Hailey Baldwin.

In the video, the Canadian heartthrob is seen licking his finger and sticking it in the 19-year-old model’s ear when she wasn’t watching what he was doing.

The latest shenanigans in the Caribbean have sparked rumours of a romance.

Baldwin has previously spoken of their closeness, telling E! News in 2014 that they’ve been “good friends” for a long time. “I’ve known him since I was so young - since I was, like, 13 — and we’ve just been good friends over the years. We have just stayed close and there’s nothing more to it than that,” she said.

EastEnders star Pam St Clement has said she finds it “difficult to keep up” with the BBC soap.

The 73-year-old played Albert Square’s Pat Butcher for 26 years.

Pat was first introduced to cause trouble for ex-husband Pete Beale and his wife Kathy, but developed into the soap’s matriarchal figure before being killed off in 2012.

Talking to The Mirror, St Clement admitted: “I still watch it, but it’s difficult to keep up. I think I have a rotting brain.”

Since her departure, the actress has been busy with other projects. “It’s amazing not to have that relentless schedule,” she said. “It’s honestly delightful. I’ve got time for charity and for travel, I love it and I’ve got time to work, the only pity is I can’t manage all the things I’m offered — everyone’s used to me being on screen permanently.”
