UCC to feature on RTÉ’s Nationwide

UCC will be the subject of an entire episode of RTÉ’s topical programme ’Nationwide’ on Friday evening.

The episode will focus on UCC's history, its continuing ground-breaking research and the student experience.

UCC alumni including Criminology student Joanne O'Riordan - one of only seven people worldwide with Tetra-amelia syndrome - will discuss life on campus.

Fiachra Ó Corragáin, a harpist studying at the School of Music and Theatre will perform a piece of music in honour of Nationwide called ‘Planxty Mary Kennedy’ to be premiered on the programme.

The bicentenary celebrations of George Boole's life will also feature.

Boole was the first Professor of Mathematics at UCC and his influence on logic, probability and mathematics has seen him being credited as the father of the digital age.

The programme will air this Friday at 7pm on RTÉ 1.
