Richard Bruton not selected as Fine Gael candidate

Jobs Minister Richard Bruton failed to be selected as a candidate for the Dublin Bay North in the 2016 general election last night.

The sitting TD and senior Government Minister was beaten by local Fine Gael councillor Naoise Ó Múirí and party area representative Stephanie Regan at the selection convention in Clontarf Castle. Fine Gael said a unanimous motion was passed at the convention to add Mr Bruton.

He is expected to be added by the Fine Gael Executive Council later today.

Mr Ó Múirí was elected to Dublin City Council in 2004. Ms Regan has been working as a FG local representative since last year.
