FORMER Taoiseach Bertie Ahern fell down stairs yesterday and broke his leg.
Mr Ahern was admitted to the Mater Hospital for X-rays, which confirmed a fracture. He left the hospital in a cast and on crutches.
According to Fianna Fáil sources, while the injury was painful, Mr Ahern will be in attendance at crucial Dáil sessions during this testing post-budget time for the Government.
Mr Ahern was understood to have broken his leg when he fell down some stairs at his St Luke’s constituency office in north Dublin.
Mr Ahern has already indicated that he will not miss a crucial Dáil vote on the medical card controversy tonight.
