Man beaten in his bed by gang

Gardaí are investigating an incident in which a man was beaten by three men while he was in bed in his house in North Cork early yesterday.

The man, in his mid-30s, was assaulted at 2am at a property in Buttevant.

Three men gained entry to the house and assaulted the man while he was in bed, before fleeing.

Gardaí said nothing was taken from the house during the incident.

The man received what were described as minor injuries, but still required treatment at Cork’s Mercy University Hospital.

Gardaí expect to speak with the man in the coming days regarding the attack. Gardaí in Mallow are investigating the assault and yesterday the scene was preserved for a technical examination.

No arrests have been made.
