Posh pooches can check in for some 5-star treatment at dog-friendly hotel

FOR those well-bred canines with a keen nose for only the highest grade of accommodation, Kerry’s Dunloe Castle Hotel is offering a doggie-treat sure to take the biscuit with all discerning four-legged creatures.

The hotel, located in the picturesque shadow of the iconic Gap of Dunloe, is the first five-star establishment in the area to offer man’s best friend the same level of attention and comfort every other member of the family enjoys on holiday.

Upon arrival, all canine companions will be greeted with a welcome pack complete with individual bowls, gourmet chews and designer toys to enjoy during their stay. All of the luxurious kennels include a spacious living area, big enough for two dogs, and furnished with a lavish day bed — the perfect place to unwind and relax after a busy day of exploring all that Killarney has to offer. For those particularly pampered pooches who will not be separated from the family at bedtime, each of the dog-friendly bedrooms also includes a warm doggy throw to cover the sofa or wherever space they claim as their quarters.

Marketing manager, Mary Rose Hickey, recognises the trials dog lovers often face in finding the just right place for a break with their furry friends.

“I understand how important dogs are to their owners and I know from my own experience that finding a hotel that welcomes my own three dogs can be extremely difficult,” she says.

“A lot of people like to bring their dogs away on holiday so we are very excited about welcoming other dog lovers and their pets to the hotel.”

The price per dog at the hotel is €10 per day, and owners are asked only to bring the canine’s choice of food and favourite leash.

Owners are requested, however, to clean up any little “accidents” that may occur with “poop-a-scoops” and gloves provided.
